Once again ....

.... I've lost a post. This time I just accidentally hit "Page Down" and the whole darn thing disappeared. And this time I was being rather theologically profound. And now it's time for dinner and I'll probably lose all my trains of thought by then.

Anyone know how to autosave every five minutes or anything like that?

Hi Steph -

I always compose all my stuff in Microsoft word and then cut and paste into blogs and things like this comment window. At least if they are going to be long-winded, which is common for me.

One advantage is that I keep all the things I write in folders by subject or recipient. Maybe someday I'll write a book and then all my gloriously original (ha ha) ideas will be instantly available.

steph, what erin said - and you could go further than that and download onto word right from blogger the link that allows you to upload directly to your blog - i did it and you have to edit it a bit, but at least it's there.

and if you are like me and make edits after you post, it allows you to edit and replace your previous entry.

it's right on the blogger dashboard homepage.

in the alternative, as soon as you lose a post and it comes up with the new window like you've lost it? there is a link to click on the window itself that says, very cleverly, "recover post." it will recover it and you can breathe again.

it works. i know.

Yes, but that "recover post" link doesn't always work... it's failed me a couple of times anyway. I third the motion to compose long posts in Word, then paste it over once you're ready to post. Also means you don't have to be online the entire time, which was my problem last year in the 'vent.
